Well, 2006 was the year I got back into TV. I got back into Smallville, and with the addition of Green Arrow, the show felt fresh again. I will admit this is my biggest guilty pleasure on Tv.There is pretty much nothing intellectual or original about this show, and the cheese factor has increased tenfold, but it brings back feelings of nostalgia for the under appreciated, misunderstood superhero that i enjoyed throughout high school. An earlier post of mine explained my thoughts on the walking conundrum that is Clark Kent, link here. For more information than you could ever want to know about this show kryptonsite pretty much has everything.
On the more cerebral end of the spectrum is Lost . Now at face value, it is a solid show with a solid cast, but who takes this show at face value anymore. Online adventures this summer, numerous podcasts(if you need to pick one try www.lostcasts.com) Now the bitter fans that feel they do not get enough answers or show their frustrations about advertisements and extended hiatuses need to chill out, It is a great, original show that needs to have commercials, and when it returns in February no one will be complaining.(God people complained alot in 2006)-As a side note I had debated on whether to discuss plot or cast, but it would take along time(and possibly my own podcast in the future) to properly express my feelings towards this show.
And the show that really caught me by surprise (and apparently miilions of others, tv execs, etc) was Heroes.
An amazing show with an amazing cast. The plot devices have worked perfectly so far, just enough info to keep you hooked and still leave many, many questions. I once posted about the lack of original ideas on Tv and this show so far has disproved that theory. One of the most memorable factors that makes this show so unique is how non hero- like, most of the cast is. A heroin addict, jess from the gilmore girls, the guy married to one of the dixie chicks, and the best new character on Tv, the apparent future savior of mankind, an awkward, adorable throwback to the revenge of the nerds movies, hiro.
