It is way to late to get into a major diatribe about what I just watched on the first Lost back in quite sometime(but it is coming) all I can say for now is.....LET THE GAMES BEGIN!!! Goddamn that was good.
I am curious to know if all the connections and over analysis on lost is warranted. If you analyze any situation long and hard enough, you can find a correlation with some existing story or character throughout history. Now granted the books that are planted, the songs etc. those are intentional plants by the creators. But all this comparison to the bible and Greek mythology and religious undertones, did the writers really think everything through this far, or is the fact that everything has been done. Every story has already been told. Yeah throw a new set of names and faces on it, but is there any original content out there, especially on tv
? Now I love this show, it has kept me more than entertained for the last couple years, but my fear is no matter how good the ride, how can this finish without feeling disappointed. The years of analysis, the amount of characters, can they really pull it all together. I spent 10 years of my life reading the dark tower series by Stephen King, went to the websites, discovered connections in the other king novels, and was wholly disappointed in the way it ended, But god did I enjoy the ride. King himself admitted in the preface t the dark tower that it was a disappointingly ending, but the story became to grand for even the master himself. That is my one fear about Lost, the ride will be to grand, the story too encompassing, the climax, heart stopping, but the ending will disappoint, of that I am sure.Whats intrigung me about lost right now is the (i think) intentional placement of the three prisoners. For example, why is Jack in an exam room, while sawyer and kate are outside in cages. Why was the initial interactions with the three prisoners with three different others. Why didnt ben just feel them out himself. Did they make kate wear the dress and get cleaned up to entice sawyer even further. Was the kid in the cage originally a plant. Was jukiettes first attempt at food a set up. What is the deal between ben and juliette. The psychology of the show is what keeps it interesting for me. And by the way the little town in the middle of nowhere, is very reminiscent of a certain little town in the latter part of stephen kings the dark tower series where ted branigan and the rest of the known psychics were contaained for research and such. Just a thought but possibly the fact that they were reading stephen king was a clue. more later....
